In the situation with expulsion of the Russian journalist of “Novaya Gazeta” Hudaberdi Nurmatov (alias Ali Feruz) a lot of complex nuances. This was stated by the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday, August 3, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.

“We drew this matter to the attention of our migration and other authorities, we are aware of the existence of this issue,” he said.

Press Secretary of the Russian President, however, stressed that “the situation is very complicated.” In his words, “a number of factors does not allow us to close our eyes to the number of violations that occur”.

Earlier Thursday, the Council under President of Russia on development of civil society and human rights said that the expulsion Nurmatov contrary to the Constitution and the European Convention on human rights. The head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov promised to address this issue “to a positive solution.”

On 1 August, the Basmanny court of Moscow found the correspondent of “Novaya Gazeta” is in violation of the rules of the regime of stay in the country. It was also ordered to pay a fine of five thousand rubles. The next day, the defendant tried to commit suicide.

According to Nurmatov, in Uzbekistan it allegedly tried to recruit intelligence agencies and tortured. He left the country in 2008, asking Russia for temporary asylum, but was refused.
