A step forward: Moscow and Washington continue to exchange conflicting signals

MOSCOW, August 2. /TASS/. Moscow and Washington continue to send each other mixed signals: both sides declare their desire to normalize relations, but each believes that the partner should take the first step.

Meanwhile, instead of reciprocal steps is an exchange of sanctions and counter-sanctions. Besides, in Moscow, apparently, believe that the possibility of President Donald trump to influence the situation is limited due to the strong political resistance, so count on political developments in the near future hardly.

The contradictory signals coming from the ocean, said on Wednesday the press-Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov. “We do state some contradictory statements that voiced in the White house”, – said Peskov told reporters in response to a request to comment on the words of U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson that he and the President trump reacted without enthusiasm to the actions of the Senate and house of representatives of the U.S. Congress, accepted last week a bill to toughen sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea.

At the same time Tillerson reminded that the document on sanctions was adopted by the legislature by an overwhelming majority. “The President accepts it, and all signs indicate that he will sign the bill,” he said.
