Vasilyev called on to play in the schools chess

The Minister of education and science of Russia Olga Vasilyeva said that the students had to play chess at school. This is reported by “Izvestia”.

According to the head of Department, classes must be held outside of school time and be free. “In our country and abroad have children who play chess in school, learning achievement is above 35-40 percent. This intellectual game develops the child”, — said Vasilyev.

Appropriate recommendations will be sent to the regions. The Minister noted that currently the interest in chess in the society is returned. So, they play in the Tyumen region, the Khanty-Mansi district and 42 schools in Samara region.

In December 2016 to include chess in the school curriculum of primary classes the head of the Ministry of education recommended to the Federation Council. It was supposed to replace the lesson of the game one of the mandatory physical education classes.

Chess included in the curriculum of countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Spain, Mexico.
