NATO fighters intercepted three Russian aircraft over the Baltic sea

Meeting aircraft was in international airspace without incident.

BRUSSELS, 1 Aug. /TASS/. NATO fighters from the mission of patrolling the airspace of the Baltic countries intercepted three Russian aircraft over the Baltic sea. This is stated in the statement of the Alliance.

“Two Spanish F-18 fighter jet participating in the NATO mission air policing had been raised from the Estonian Amari military base to intercept three Russian aircraft, which were identified as two MiG-31 fighter jet and a transport aircraft an-26”, — said the Alliance.

The statement noted that it is not a member of NATO Finland has also sent fighter aircraft for aerial inspection of Russian aircraft.

Meeting aircraft of the Russian Federation, Finland and NATO took place in international airspace without incident.
