Saakashvili refused to change nationality and seek asylum

Former President of Georgia still considers himself a citizen of Ukraine.

Moscow. July 29. INTERFAX.RU — Former President of Georgia, ex-Governor of Odessa region of Ukraine, Mikhail Saakashvili said that is not going to accept the citizenship of any other country or to request a political asylum.

As he said Saturday in an interview with the Georgian TV company “Rustavi 2”, he considers himself a citizen of Ukraine.

“No intentions, no desire, no plans to seek political asylum in another country I do not have”, — said Saakashvili.

According to Saakashvili, the President of Petro Poroshenko has violated the Constitution and international obligations of Ukraine, depriving him of his citizenship.

Saakashvili said that was optimistic and said that this fall he and his team are going to implement in Ukraine a large mobilization.

“In the fall planning a big mobilization in Ukraine. We go through all legal instances, and working on that Ukrainian lawyers and help us and foreign lawyers,” he said.

While Saakashvili believes that the President hurt himself with this decision, as in fact acknowledged him as his main opponent, expelling from the country.

“These things usually end very badly”, he concluded.
