Media reported about the requirement MIFI to return the grant because of unfulfilled promises

The Ministry of education asked the National research nuclear University “MEPhI” return the megagrant in the amount of 22,5 million rubles. About it writes “Kommersant” on Wednesday, July 26.

According to the publication, this is an unprecedented requirement in the history launched by Vladimir Putin in 2010 program.

Currently the Ministry is developing a mechanism for the return of funds in the budget, and it can affect all University employees. The University has already started to warn about possible wage cuts.

The requirement to return the money due to the fact that the laboratory did not achieve the promised results, and leading scientist, a U.S. citizen, has not fulfilled the obligation of personal presence. Scientists say that the problem arose due to the failure of leadership MIFI to provide funding for the project. In the rector assured that the lab needs to earn money independently.

A grant for the creation of nuclear University of the laboratory of electromagnetic methods of production of new materials was won in late 2011, Russian scientist Evgeny Grigoryev and emigrated to the United States from Ukraine Eugene Olevsky, headed the project.

From 2011 to 2013, the laboratory received from the state budget 150 million rubles.
