SF appeals to Putin for the demolition of monuments in Poland

Wednesday, July 25, the Federation Council will appeal to President Vladimir Putin asking him to instruct ministries and departments to develop a set of measures in response to the Polish law, allowing to take down the Soviet monuments. This was stated by Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko, said “gazety”.

“Tomorrow at the meeting we will take an appeal to the President with a request to give the relevant ministries and agencies to develop a complex response. This is a shameless decision by backfire”, — Valentina Matvienko.

Earlier, Matviyenko said that mirror measures in response to the action of the Polish authorities is preparing the Russian foreign Ministry. What actions will be taken, the Federation Council speaker said.

In July, President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, approved amendments to the law banning the promotion of communism. According to the law, monuments of the Soviet era in the country can be demolished if they are not entered in the register of cultural values and installed in the cemeteries.
