You must make sure that the presidential election has United Russian society, said the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. Her words leads RIA Novosti on Tuesday, July 25.

“It is crucial that the upcoming elections has not caused a spike in tensions, but on the contrary, has further strengthened its consolidation. As you know, in the situation that has developed in the international arena, it is vital for the country,” she said at a meeting of the upper house of Parliament.

In her opinion, officials and politicians must explain to citizens the meaning and purpose of their decisions. “I believe that too much communication with people does not happen” — said Matvienko.

Presidential elections in Russia will be held in March 2018. The intention to run for the highest office stated, in particular, the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the founder of the party “Yabloko” Grigory Yavlinsky and opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Its participation in elections does not exclude the Chairman of the CPRF Gennady Zyuganov.

The President is elected for six years, one and the same person may not hold office more than two consecutive terms.
