Fish-the swindler 130 years hiding from people
Scientists for the first time in 130 years, have discovered a new species of fish-the moon.
Its English name — Hoodwinker — in translation from English means “swindler, cheater”. Latin name fish — Mola tecta. On the finding reported in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society.
Unusual fish seen in the cold waters of New Zealand, southern Chile, South Africa and South-East coast of Australia. According to the authors of the study, fish could not be attributed to any kind of about three hundred years, so scientists have named the fish Mola tecta, which translated from Latin means “hidden”.
Weight of one individual can reach two tons, length — up to three meters, fish of this species prefer to live alone in remote areas of the ocean. Sometimes they float to the surface to bask.
