The leaders of “Norman Quartet” (Russia, France, Ukraine and Germany) stressed the importance of complete ceasefire in the Donbas with the continuous monitor of the Special monitoring mission (SMM) of the OSCE. This was reported in the press service of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the results of telephone conversations.

“The two sides (presidents Vladimir Putin, Emmanuel macron, Petro Poroshenko, and Chancellor Angela Merkel — approx. TASS) noted the importance of a full ceasefire, withdrawal of heavy weapons and holding the dilution of forces with round-the-clock monitoring of the situation of SMM of the OSCE”, — stated in the message.

In addition, the parties agreed “to negotiate the final steps for security and to continue work on roadmap of implementation of the Minsk agreements.” “To this end, in the second half of August, a meeting of foreign policy advisers to heads of States in the Norman format”, — said the press service.

In a press-service informed that the head of state reiterated “the importance of the introduction in the Donbass UN peacekeeping mission”, once again accused Russia of unwillingness “to release all hostages, including those illegally held in Russia”.
