Iraq wished military and political presence of Russia

Nouri al-Maliki

Baghdad would like to see a significant military and political presence of Russia. On Monday, July 24, said the Vice-President of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki after talks with the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, reports RIA Novosti.

“Thus, it would have established a balance that will benefit the region, its peoples and its countries,” he said, noting that Russia has historically strong relations with Iraq.

The politician added that Baghdad wants to strengthen the cooperation in energy, economy, trade, political and military spheres.
