The court of Rome was sentenced to 46 mafia to 500 years in prison

The court of Rome sentenced to various terms of imprisonment of 46 members of the criminal group, engaged in the plundering of the budget of the Italian capital. It is reported by Rai News.

Massimo Carminati and Salvatore Buzzi, who designed and implemented a criminal scheme received 20 and 19 years of imprisonment respectively. It is noteworthy that both of them were sentenced by videoconference — they are currently serving sentences in a maximum-security prison in Parma for crimes committed previously.

The process began in 2015 and has received the name of Mafia Capital (“Capital mafia”). The investigation failed to establish that the members of the group made connections with city hall in the Italian capital and with the help of officials received lucrative contracts, paid from the city Treasury. In particular, it was about the management of the refugee centers.

In the implementation of criminal schemes was also involved criminals affiliated with the business structure. In total, the judge ordered the defendants in this case more than 500 years in prison.

On 4 July it was reported that in the province of Reggio Calabria in southern Italy carried out the largest operation on detention of members of the local criminal gangs. In the hands of employees of the security services were 116 participants of a mafia clan of the Ndrangheta. They are accused of participation in criminal community, extortion, smuggling and illegal possession of weapons and fraud.
