In Istanbul arrested the head of the local branch of Amnesty International

ANKARA, 18 Jul — RIA Novosti. The Istanbul court decided to arrest the Director of the international human rights organization Amnesty International in Turkey, Idil Eser and five other activists of the organization, reports on Tuesday broadcaster CNN Turk.

SR among 12 activists of human rights organizations, was detained on 6 July in Istanbul during the human rights conference at a hotel in Buyukada.

Amnesty International demanded their release, but President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the human rights organization in preparing a new attempted coup in the country, citing intelligence data.

It is noted that the court left the detention of six activists, Amnesty International, among which are SR citizens of Sweden Ali Gharavi and Germany Peter Steudtner, on charges of “supporting a terrorist organization”. Other detainees released on his own recognizance.
