Zhirinovsky has suggested to create “the Indian Navy” Navy

The Deputy of the state Duma, the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky has suggested to create the Russian Navy, “Indian Navy”, and to host Russian military bases next to us. About the MP said on Friday, July 14, at the meeting of the state Duma, reports “Interfax”.

“Wherever their base is [to be] our base,” — said Zhirinovsky.

“We have little bases in Syria. We need a base in the Persian Gulf, and this is already the Indian ocean. The Navy needs to stand there. It can be called the “Indian Navy”” he added.

The leader of LDPR is convinced that Russia should gradually increase their foreign group “to go on an equal footing with the Americans.” “We need some more bases, such as in Syria,” he said, offering to host Russian troops in Iran.

Earlier on July 14, the state Duma ratified the Protocol to the agreement between Moscow and Damascus on the placement of the aviation group of the Russian Armed forces on the territory of Syria.

Currently, Russia has a military contingent in eight countries and on the territory of Transnistria. All of them, with the exception of Syria, situated on the territory of the former USSR (Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and South Ossetia).

The US has over 700 military bases around the world.

Western Indian ocean — a zone of responsibility of the US Fifth fleet, whose main base is located in Bahrain. The Eastern part of the Indian ocean controls the Seventh fleet of the United States, which is based in Japan and on the island of GUAM in the Pacific ocean. The fleet includes nuclear-powered aircraft carrier “George Washington”, as well as cruisers, destroyers, amphibious ships and nuclear submarines.
