The authorities of Sakhalin invited Japan to enter for the Russians visa-free stay in the country for a period of 72 hours, reports “Interfax”.

According to the Minister of economic development Alexei Belik, this proposal was voiced during the visit of the large Japanese business mission that visited the Southern Kuril Islands of the Sakhalin region with the aim of exploring issues of joint economic activities in this part of the archipelago.

“We invited the Japanese side to return to consideration of this matter (viz. – “Газета.Ru”). It would be a logical step for the Japanese government to Russian citizens could visit the country without visas within 72 hours,” said the Minister.

In 2016, the Japanese foreign Ministry announced the decision to facilitate the visa regime with Russia.
