Presidential adviser on climate change has predicted new weather anomalies

A Russian presidential adviser on climate change Alexander Bedritsky warned of a repetition of weather anomalies and said that they are associated with warming in the Arctic. He said this on the forum the Russian emergencies Ministry and NGOs “Society for security” in Vytegra, reports “Interfax”.

“We are seeing abnormal phenomena, when the weather is unstable. 2017 is an example of such situations that can be repeated more often,” — said Bedritsky.

He explained that a warmer Arctic reduces the temperature contrast between the poles and the equator and increase regional atmospheric processes. Together with temperature anomalies in the surface ocean and this leads to a sharp change in the weather, said Advisor to the President.

The expert stressed that the climate factor should be taken into account in the implementation of measures on providing of hydrometeorological and ecological safety.

On 14 July it was reported that in 2017 the majority of agricultural producers of Russia will face losses due to crop failure caused by the fact that spring and summer was exceptionally cold and rainy. The extent of the damage can be up to 2.6 billion rubles.

Earlier in July, senior fellow of the center weather “Phobos” Eugene Tiscover said that the Muscovites do not wait for this summer because the capital region was plunged into a “cyclonic depression”.
