In Turkey held mass marches on the anniversary of the coup attempt

ANKARA, 15 Jul — RIA Novosti. Hundreds of thousands of citizens of Turkey participate in rallies and marches on the first anniversary of military coup; the events dedicated to the Day of democracy and national unity, on 15 July, held in dozens of Turkish towns, the main ones being in Ankara and Istanbul.

As the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the event, thousands of residents of the Turkish capital gathered national flags and photographs of those killed during the attempted coup in the Central Kizilay messes up, which was called square of the national will on July 15.

Tens of thousands of Istanbul residents from three different districts of the city staged a March to one of the three bridges that span the Bosphorus, where a year ago, civilians prevented the advance of the coup. In the procession was attended by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Binali Yildirim. The bridge, dubbed the bridge of martyrs on July 15, held a rally and opening ceremony of the monument to the victims of the rebellion.

“We must honor the memory of the sons and daughters of Turkey who died for democracy, flag, faith, and honor of the people. Turkish people will never forget and will not forget what happened on July 15,” — said the Turkish Prime Minister, speaking at the rally, the live broadcast which leads the TV channel NTV.
