Germany and France agreed to create a new generation of fighter aircraft. This was announced by the President of France Emmanuel macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a press conference after a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the two countries, reports The Telegraph.

The parties intend to develop a new manned and unmanned vehicles that will replace the Typhoon and Rafale fighters in the air force of France and Germany and will be exported. In addition, the two leaders agreed to accelerate the joint program Eurodrone to create a European fleet of military drones in 2020-ies.

“That’s the signal for the British. You get out of the EU, and we are moving forward. We will not tolerate your attempts to block military capabilities of the EU”, — commented a senior source in the German defense industry.

Currently, the French air force used military aircraft Rafale and Mirage manufacturing concern Dassault, while the basis of the combat power of the Luftwaffe fighter is the Eurofighter Typhoon, developed and manufactured jointly by Germany, UK, Italy with the participation of several other European countries. France, the original is also involved in the project, left it at the end of 1980-ies to create their own Rafale fighter. UK, in addition to participating in the Eurofighter project, also involved in the American project of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

In 2015, France and Germany have agreed to jointly develop a main battle tank of the new generation, capable to compete with the Russian war machine “Armata”. In July 2015, the German firm Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and French Nexter Systems has created a new concern KANT (KMW and Nexter Together).
