Revision of the “news Mail.Ru” presents a digest of the most important and bright events from 8 to 14 July 2017 in the photographs of the leading news agencies of Russia and the world.

July 8. Started the next stage of the international rally-RAID “silk road”. Within two weeks, the rally will cover approximately 10 thousand kilometers on the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan, China and finish in Xian.

July 8. In St. Petersburg hosted the international festival of SUP surfing “Fontanka-SUP — 2017”. It was attended by over 200 people — among them were both sportsmen, and fans. Starting on the Fontanka, the participants swam 10 km in the most beautiful places of St. Petersburg.

July 9. Russia held two Grand events — the rock festival “Invasion” in the Tver region and the electronic music festival Alfa Future People in Nizhny Novgorod. Two different kinds of events are alike in one thing — due to rainy weather the spectators, equipment and vehicles literally sank into the mud.

July 9. In Venezuela, the ongoing rallies against President Nicolas Maduro. In the photograph, the security forces used tear gas against opposition supporters in Caracas.

July 10. In California, authorities evacuated four thousand inhabitants due to natural fires. Rescue operation was associated with a high risk: fire was raging in the vicinity of roads, which were falling burning trees.

July 10. A major fire occurred in the building of shopping center “RIO” on the Dmitrov highway in the North-East of Moscow. In the fire were injured and were hospitalized 14 people, some in serious condition. The results of the test of gross violations of fire safety have not been identified.

July 11. UNESCO expands list of world heritage sites. It includes eight locations, including the Japanese island Okinoshima where only men are allowed. About what is happening in this no one knows — anyone visiting the island is prohibited to talk about their experiences.

July 11. The militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia) announced the death of the leader of the organization Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. July 12. From Antarctica broke off a giant iceberg, with an area equal to two and one-half squares of Moscow. It is believed that he is among the ten most massive ever recorded by scientists of the icebergs — it weighs 1 trillion tons. The separation of the glacier radically changed the landscape of the Antarctic Peninsula.

July 12. Sergei Polonsky, accused in the theft of 2.42 billion rubles in the construction of residential complex “Kutuzovskaya mile” and “Rublevsky Riviera”, was exempt from punishment of five years in prison because of the expiration of the Statute of limitations on the case.

July 13. The court issued a verdict in the murder of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. Zaur Dadaev, who was the main guilty of committing a crime, was given 20 years in a strict regime colony. Four other accused, which the court found partners, got from 11 to 19 years.

July 13. Probe “Yunona” transmitted to Earth pictures of the Great red Spot — a huge atmospheric storm that exists on Jupiter for over 350 years. This atmospheric vortex is the largest in the solar system — it stretches for 40 — 50 thousand km in length and 13 thousand km in width.

July 14. Nine days of the festival was filled with music, dancing, traditional food and wine. But the main event of the festival, as always, became famous running with the bulls through the ancient streets of Pamplona.

July 14. An accident with very unpleasant for drivers consequences happened on one of the trails in the U.S. state of Oregon. The truck in which body there were hundreds kiskinov (also called “slimy eels”), capsized, Gulf of the roadway with a thick layer of mucus and hundreds of marine creatures.
