Macron said that Paris no longer insists on Assad’s departure

PARIS, July 13 — RIA Novosti, Victoria Ivanova. Paris is no longer insisting on the resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a key objective must be the eradication of terrorism, said the President of France Emmanuel macron at a press conference after meeting with U.S. President Donald trump in Paris.

“We changed the French doctrine in relation to Syria. Our fundamental objective is to eradicate the terrorist groups, whatever they were,” said the French leader.

Previously, the rules stated that the removal of Bashar al-Assad from power “is no longer possible to do the prerequisite” for a settlement in Syria. However, this, according to him, does not mean that France is an ally of the Syrian leader.

The American media in early July reported, citing sources in the administration of Donald trump and the Congress that the United States also agree to the retention of power by Bashar al-Assad.
