Foreign Ministry reacted to the murder of the Russian tourists in Abkhazia

The Russian foreign Ministry commented on the attack on the Russian tourists in the Gudauta district of Abkhazia, resulting in one of the campers was killed. The commentary posted on the Ministry website.

“The Russian foreign Ministry expressed serious concern in connection with the incident and expects that the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Abkhazia in the near future will find and prosecute criminals,” the statement said.

July 12, the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) opened a criminal case upon murder of the citizen of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia. According to the official representative of the Moscow Directorate of SKR Yulia Ivanova, within investigation of criminal case upon murder of the inhabitant of the capital Andrey Kabanova established close cooperation with the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Abkhazia, whose territory it was committed the crime.

The murder occurred in the afternoon of 11 July in the village Achandara in the Gudauta district. A group of tourists returning from fishing on foot, was overtaken by armed masked men and demanded money. One of the men, Kabanov Andrey Nikolaevich born in 1984, had resisted the attackers and was stabbed in the chest. He was taken to the Central hospital of Gudauta, where he died.
