Rosobrnadzor promises major changes in the system of assessment of teachers

As told in an interview to “Kommersant” the head of Rosobrnadzor Sergey Kravtsov, in the new school year in 13 regions of Russia will launch a new model of evaluating teachers. To confirm the qualifications of teachers will have to pass a test on knowledge of their subject, as well as undergo an expert evaluation of the conduct of the lesson.

“Now in many regions of the certification of teachers based on formal requirements. A so-called portfolio: the teacher collects confirmations of participation in competitions, conferences. This, of course, important, but not the most important. The most important is the knowledge of the subject and its teaching methods, and new model involves the test,” said Mr. Kravtsov.

According to him, a certain proportion of teachers of the Russian language, literature and mathematics shows low results perform basic tasks. “For example, 10% of teachers lack knowledge of Russian language and grammar, and 24.2 per cent of the teachers of mathematics are unable to solve the equation (x-3)2=2|x-3|”, — said Sergey Kravtsov.

As reported by Kommersant, the changes to the training system associated with the development and implementation of a system of professional growth of teachers. The first in testing new models will participate the regions of the North Caucasus: Chechnya, Ingushetia, Adygea, Kabardino-Balkar Republic.

The project will also participate Tatarstan, Khabarovsk Krai, Leningrad, Kurgan, Tomsk, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Volgograd and Ryazan region. “The most important thing after such a review, we will see the existing problems and the centres of excellence will work with teachers in the gaps that are identified, which now is not always enough”, — concluded Mr. Kravtsov.
