China sent troops in first foreign base

The Chinese troops went on the first overseas base of China in Djibouti, a country located in the horn of Africa. This reports the South China Morning Post.

A farewell ceremony was held in the port of Zhanjiang. According to Xinhua, the decision to establish a base of people’s liberation army (PLA) in Djibouti and sending the army contingent was adopted by the governments after conducting friendly negotiation. It is noted that it is in the common interests of the peoples.

The construction of the necessary infrastructure, the Chinese military began last year. It is about creating a supply base of ships the Chinese Navy participating in humanitarian and peacekeeping missions off the coast of Yemen and Somalia. The date of commencement of full operation of the database is not reported.
