MOSCOW, 11 Dec — RIA Novosti. The US circulated a UN security Council draft resolution, involving the introduction of new sanctions against the DPRK in connection with the alleged test of an Intercontinental missile, according to the associated Press, citing two diplomats.
The document, implying the introduction of new restrictive measures against North Korea, was circulated among the permanent members of the Security Council — Russia, China, Britain and France. The official representative of the U.S. mission to the UN has not commented on this information.
North Korea launched another ballistic missile on 4 July. Russia has stated that we are talking about medium-range missiles, United States on Intercontinental missiles. The launch was discussed at an emergency meeting of the UN security Council on 5 July. USA, France and the United Kingdom believe that the answer to the next launch, the DPRK should become a new sanctions resolution of the security Council. Deputy Russian Ambassador Vladimir Safronkov said that sanctions are “driven into a dead end” problems on the Korean Peninsula.
Earlier the U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley stated that Washington in the coming days will present to the UN Security Council’s new resolution with a “proportional response” to Pyongyang. USA intend to strengthen economic pressure on the country. For the new resolution to toughen the sanctions regime against Pyongyang made two other permanent members of the UN security Council — France and the UK.
