Ukraine demanded to ban the animated series “Masha and the Bear”

KYIV, 10 Jul — RIA Novosti. The Odessa public organization “Council of public safety” and urged the Ukrainian authorities to ban the popular Russian animated series “Masha and the Bear”; according to the organization, he is alleged “the absolute embodiment of the worst advocacy ideas of the Russian Federation” and “distorts the minds of children”.

Russian animated series “Masha and Medved” Studio “Animaccord” first saw the light in 2009 and is now a global phenomenon: it is sold on all continents and everywhere is a huge success. The rights to show the film bought such well-known companies like Netflix, Turner (UK and Latin America), KIKA (Germany), France TV, Sony Music, NBC Universal, Televisa and others. On YouTube cartoon looked around 1.7 billion users.

In the address on the website of the organization says that the Council of public security sent an official appeal “to the relevant committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, National expert Commission of Ukraine on protection of public morality, the State Agency of Ukraine for cinema and the state Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine… the product of “Masha and the bear” should be immediately prohibited to broadcast on all Ukrainian TV channels and Internet resources”.

The statement called the cartoon “animated propaganda piece, aimed at the deformation of the consciousness of Ukrainian children”.

The Council of public security said that the cartoon supposedly “is the absolute embodiment of the worst advocacy ideas of the Russian Federation, which already had the experts of Estonia and Lithuania”. The organization has seen in the cartoon “a clear message to the bear, traditionally considered a symbol of Russia and is associated with the country, it seems as the big strong hero” who allegedly “with impunity captures someone else’s property, house, land.”

Previously lecturer in Tallinn University Priit of Heamagi caught “Masha and the Bear” in the promotion of “soft” military power and participation in a hybrid war. The creators of the animated series did not want to comment on this statement.
