The state Bolshoi theatre of Russia (the Bolshoi theatre) has moved the premiere of the ballet “Nureyev” directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, which was to be held on July 11 in may 2018, on the personal order of the Minister of culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky. TASS reported on Monday, an informed source close to the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, at a specially organized press briefing, the General Director of the Bolshoi theater Vladimir urin said that the premiere was delayed because of the unavailability of the production.

“The play is transferred by direct order of Medina”, — said the Agency interlocutor. According to him, the indignation of the Ministry of culture was the fact that the show looks like propaganda of non-traditional sexual values. According to the interlocutor of the Agency, “according to the plan Serebrennikov, most of the actors had to perform their roles naked, and decoration became a famous photograph of Nureyev”, in which he is depicted completely naked. In 2013, Russia adopted a law banning the propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations among minors.

In the culture of the TASS refused to officially comment on this information, the reaction of the leadership of the Bolshoi theater requested.

On the creation of the ballet worked composer Ilya Demutsky, the librettist, Director and set designer Kirill Serebrennikov and choreographer Yuri Posokhov.
