McCain declared defeat of the USA in Afghanistan

John McCain

The Chairman of the Committee on armed services of the U.S. Senate John McCain believes that the US is losing in Afghanistan because of the lack of us forces and strategy. On Sunday, July 9, he declared on air of TV channel CBS News.

“We have no strategy. And we are losing. When you don’t win, you lose. And the Afghan national army suffers unacceptable losses,” said McCain.

He also added that the United States will have to develop a new strategy. In addition, McCain said that he sees the cause of the failure of Washington in Afghanistan in the White house.

On 29 June, the head of NATO Jens Stoltenberg announced that the 15 countries of the bloc sent additional military units to Afghanistan. He added that he expects announcements about the support from other countries of the Alliance.

On June 15 the President of the United States Donald trump allowed the Pentagon to determine exactly how many troops need to be sent to Afghanistan. The White house has decided to expand the powers of the defense Department a few days after the Minister of defence James Mattis announced that U.S. and Afghan security forces are losing the war to the Taliban.

Currently in Afghanistan there are 8.5 thousand of American soldiers and 4.5 thousand soldiers of NATO countries.
