In the state Duma called on the OSCE to stop waiting for repentance from Russia

Moscow is not ready to meet the expectations of the parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in recognition of the ineffectiveness of a number of democratic procedures, said the Deputy of the state Duma Nikolay Kovalev. At the session of the Assembly, which took place last week in Minsk, many parliamentarians asked why Russia is following the example of Belarus does not recognize the existence of problems in the field of human rights. “It seems that we all some repentance, perhaps, — said Kovalev, a member of the Russian delegation in Interparliamentary organizations. — We have never, in my opinion, this path will not go, it will be wrong”.

At the annual summer session of the OSCE PA was considered but not adopted a resolution on the situation in Eastern Europe. It contained criticism of Russia and Belarus in the field of human rights, said the Agency. The Belarusian delegation asked for time to correct the shortcomings.

On 8 July, the penultimate day of the event, the Chairman of the Committee of the lower house of the Russian Parliament’s international Affairs Leonid Slutsky said that the OSCE becomes a more constructive platform to address the global challenges of our time. He in particular noted changes in the attitude of the American delegation to the initiatives of the Russian Parliament.

The parliamentary Assembly at a meeting on Saturday unanimously supported the anti-terrorist resolution, proposed by the Russian side.
