Trump spoke about a strong pressure on Putin during talks in Hamburg

Donald Trump

The US President Donald trump said that at the G20 summit in Hamburg “double-pressed” to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during discussion of the alleged intervention of Moscow in the American elections. The head of state wrote in his Twitter on Sunday, July 9.

“I twice kept on pushing President Putin about Russian interference in our elections. He categorically denied it,” said trump.

Previously, the newspaper the New York Times reported, citing a source that the discussion of the question of possible Russian intervention in elections in the United States took trump and Putin for about 40 minutes. The publication claims that the President of Russia “loudly demanded evidence” of Moscow’s interference. In the end, trump said his Russian counterpart that it was time to move on to other issues.

Putin himself on 8 July at a press conference said that trump paid a lot of attention to the question of alleged Russian interference in the election process in the United States. And, according to the Russian President, the head of the White house “took his arguments about non-interference of Moscow”.

The first meeting of Putin and trump held in Hamburg on the sidelines of the summit of “Big twenty” on July 7 and lasted more than two hours. The sides discussed bilateral relations and key international problems.

The U.S. has repeatedly accused Russia of meddling in the elections of the American President with the help of hackers. Moscow denies such accusations.
