The conflict around Qatar could last for months, according to the state Department

WASHINGTON, 6 Aug — RIA Novosti. The conflict around Qatar is stalled, it can take months and even intensify, said at a briefing state Department spokesman Heather Nauert.

“We remain extremely concerned about the situation in Qatar and the Gulf countries. We are particularly concerned that this conflict is at an impasse at the moment. We believe that it is likely to take weeks, months, perhaps it can even intensify,” she said.

According to her, U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson remains involved in the resolution process of this conflict.

“We remain in close contact with all (involved parties),” he added Nauert.

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt in early June, broke off diplomatic relations with Doha and stopped with Qatar every message, accusing him of supporting terrorism and interference in their internal Affairs.

Later, the Arab countries issued an ultimatum to Qatar, calling for a 10-day deadline to agree to meet the requirements of the neighbors. The ultimatum contains 13 claims, including a downgrading of diplomatic and military relations with Iran, the closure of Turkish military bases in the country, stopping funding for terrorist organizations, non-interference in the internal Affairs of Arab countries support the opposition figures, as well as the closure of all satellite television network “al Jazeera”.

Qatar rejects accusations its Arab neighbors and claims that their demands are unrealistic and cannot be fulfilled.
