The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov confirmed the agreement on a ceasefire in the area of Deraa and Quneitra in southern Syria. He said this on Friday, July 7, at the summit of G20 leaders in Hamburg, Germany, reports TASS.

“In this area to enforce the ceasefire from 12:00 to Damascus on July 9,” said the Minister. According to him, “the United States assumed the duty to comply with the cease-fire by all factions that are there”.

Lavrov added that “at first the security around the area of de-escalation will be provided with the use of forces and means of the Russian military police and in coordination with the Jordanians and Americans,” reports “Interfax”.

The Minister also noted that the document on the establishment of a zone of de-escalation on Syrian territory, “clearly confirmed the commitment of Russia, Jordan and the United States to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and UN security Council resolutions, which laid the Foundation for the promotion of a political settlement”.

Previously, reaching agreement on ceasefire told the Associated Press.

May 4, countries-guarantors of a ceasefire in Syria — Russia, Turkey and Iran signed a Memorandum on creation of four security zones in Syria. They will operate in the following regions: in the province of Idlib, in areas of Latakia, Aleppo and Hama; in the North of HOMS province; in Eastern ghouta, on the South of Syria — the provinces of Deraa and Quneitra. There will be prohibited the use of weapons, in addition, to deliver humanitarian aid.
