A bill according to which parents of children living with HIV will be obliged to send them for treatment, is being developed in the state Duma, according to “Parlamentskaya Gazeta” with reference to one of the authors of the initiative, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on family, women and children Oksana Pushkin.

According to the newspaper, the bill would allow HIV positive children to receive necessary medical care, even if their parents oppose the treatment. According to Pushkina, children can be saved. According to the Deputy, in such situations needs to be heard and the voice of the medical community.

“If doctors are convinced the HIV threat, the propaganda that denies it must be stopped by law. After all this obscurantism could cost the lives of specific children,” said Pushkin.

According to her, the document will be submitted for the consideration of the lower house in the autumn session.
