In the second half of summer tornadoes are expected, showers and thunderstorms
To warn as many people about natural disasters, emergency tests the system alerts through the social network.
Tired from unusually cold weather and heavy rain, residents of Central Russia looking forward to when I can finally enjoy the warmth. But the weather forecasts are not encouraging: in the best case, the second half of the summer is moderately warm.
But in the EMERCOM of Russia “Izvestia” said that this month in Central Russia is once again to wait for heavy rains and squally wind gusts. While in the South of Siberia and in the southern regions of the Far East fires — it predicted dry and hot weather.
As told “Izvestia” head of the organization inform the population of EMERCOM of Russia Alexey Vagotonic, in the last few months, there were many natural disasters.
In the context of a changing climate that early for some of the regions was an anomaly, now it is becoming the norm: a large amount of precipitation, record maximum and minimum temperatures and other phenomena. EMERCOM of Russia promptly reacts to such climate change. Every year in the regions to be advised of new risks as well as the forces and means that can be engaged to respond to potential emergency situations, — said Alexey Vagotonic.
In such circumstances, the Ministry of emergency situations had to revise the system of informing the population about potential disasters.
— Now uses new methods of work in the area to alert people about adverse weather phenomena become social networks — “Vkontakte”, “Odnoklassniki”. While this is in the testing phase, but already now we can say that the work with social networks allows not only to reduce the time taken to pass information but to personally warn each user about the impending threat, — said the representative office.
According to the Director of hydrometeorological centre Roman Vilfand, summer dangerous phenomena are observed five to six times more often than in the winter. For the cold season are characterized by horizontal movement of air mass advection. And in the summer is the vertical motion and convection. And with explosive convection processes meteorologists have a dangerous phenomenon.
— Vertical vortex structures — the tornadoes — we are extremely rare, but, unfortunately, there are. I wouldn’t have to exclude them in the near future, — said Roman Vilfand “news”. In July you can expect hail, heavy rain, squally winds and thunderstorms. This is a very dangerous phenomenon: every year, unfortunately, people are dying from lightning strikes.
The problem is that many natural disasters cannot be predicted in advance — this can be done for the day, and often several hours or even several tens of minutes.
The main recommendation that Roman Vilfand gave the people of Russia, very carefully monitor the weather forecasts during the summer period.
— If you hear that the forecast is wind of 15-20 meters per second or more, it is necessary to keep children at home and not to release them. But the wind should alert the forecasts of heavy rain, and hail, — said the head of Roshydromet.
Leading researcher of the Department of meteorology and climatology of geographical faculty of Moscow state University Mikhail Lokoshchenko advised the residents of Central Russia not to clean away the warm clothes and heaters.
— Summer is hot will not. We had a very cold may, when the temperature was two degrees below normal, and a June — two and a half degrees below. June 2 was marked by sleet. The last 70 years, since 1947, in Moscow in June never fallen solid precipitation, said meteorologist. However, frosts, he said, it will not be until the autumn.
Prolonged weather anomaly, according to scientists, is associated with a blocking anticyclone over Central Europe.
In the area of the Russian plain, which was on its Eastern periphery, constantly brought cold air masses.
Mikhail Lokoshchenko noticed that the current year was unusually wet, and this increases the probability of floods, inundations and rainfall floods. For the first six months in Moscow, for example, fell to 414 mm of precipitation, which is much more than half the annual norm.
Over the last 163 years of regular measurements of precipitation and their number in the first half of the year only three times was more than now, — said Mikhail Lokoshchenko. And they were all recently in 2001, 2005 and 2013. And for the first three days of July in Moscow fell half of July’s rainfall — as much as 47 mm. Especially strong was the downpour on July 3 when for a few hours, dropped 36 inches of rain. Similar showers are considered dangerous meteorological phenomenon.
Roman Vilfand said that the weather this summer was unlucky only to residents of European Russia. The rest of the Northern hemisphere is hot.
