MOSCOW, 4 Jul — RIA Novosti. The head of the international Committee of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev believes that the only way to deal with the myth of “Russian threat”, cultivated by Western politicians and media to tell about the true geopolitical underpinnings of the actions of the West. He wrote about this in an article in the newspaper “Izvestia”.
From the perspective of the Senator, the main component of the information war under way in the West, against Russia, is the spread of distorted information in the first place, about her intentions. So, in his opinion, there is the myth in which Russia appears as the aggressor. This myth, stressed Kosachev, helped at the time the Baltic States are significantly ahead of many of the Balkan States in joining the EU and NATO, and Ukraine became a constituent. Sanctions policy of the Western powers, the White house statement on chemical weapons in Damascus — all this, according to the Senator, creates “inverted reality”, in which Russia appears as a threat for the democracy.
“The efforts of all those purely Orwellian in spirit of the statements and documents we live today in terms of some kind of inside-out reality. Sanctions — reaction,” writes the Senator.
Thus, the only way to deal with this, according to Kosachev, “in response to arguments about “intent” to explain the real motives and objectives of foreign policy.”
