Ukraine was fined for refusing to let Samoylova in the Eurovision song contest

MOSCOW, 29 Jun — RIA Novosti. The European broadcasting Union (EBU) has imposed a “large fine” on National public broadcasting company of Ukraine for prohibition of the participation of representatives of Russia Yulia Samoilova in the Eurovision song contest in 2017, reported Agence France-Presse.

“In accordance with the rules of the competition the NOTE received notice of the fine,” — said the Agency representative of the EBU. He declined to specify the amount of the fine.

Earlier, the head of TV and radio company Zurab Alasania said that the penalty can be up to 200 thousand euros, but Ukraine will have to challenge it. On appeal Kiev has 20 days.

As was stated by the head of the organizing Committee Frank-Dieter Freiling, EBU can to punish Ukraine for the fact that the country is not ensured the participation Samoilova in the competition. Later, in Geneva, was arrested on 15 million euros, which Kiev has provided a financial guarantee for the successful holding of the Eurovision song contest.

Samoilov was supposed to perform at the Eurovision song contest in 2017 with the song Flame Is Burning, but the security Service of Ukraine has banned the actress entry into the country due to her performances in the Crimea. The European broadcasting Union offered Russia to broadcast the contest via a satellite or to change the participant. The first channel is called these options unacceptable and refused to broadcast.
