The law on free far hectare was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 2 may 2017.

According to the law, every Russian citizen may exercise the right to receive for five years an area not more than a hectare. A plot can be located on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kamchatka, Primorye and Khabarovsk territories, Amur, Magadan and Sakhalin regions, Jewish Autonomous region and Chukchi Autonomous district.

After five years the site will be arrange to rent or to own. Purchase and sale of the acquired land is prohibited.
