Lavrov and Tillerson discussed the issues of settlement in Syria

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on Monday, June 26, discussed with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson the subject of the settlement of the crisis in Syria. This was reported on the website of the foreign Ministry. The conversation took place on the initiative of the American side.

The interlocutors spoke about the need to consolidate the ceasefire regime, in particular through the Astana process, increasing the fight against terrorist groups and prevent the use of chemical toxic substances.

Lavrov urged the US to take measures to prevent provocations against Syrian government troops conducting operations against terrorists.

The foreign Ministers agreed to continue contacts, including on issues on the bilateral agenda.

On may 4, three countries-the guarantor — Russia, Turkey and Iran signed a Memorandum on creation of four security zones in Syria. They will be created in the following regions: in the province of Idlib, in areas of Latakia, Aleppo and Hama; in the North of HOMS province; in Eastern ghouta, on the South of Syria — the provinces of Deraa and Quneitra. There will be prohibited the use of weapons, in addition, to deliver humanitarian aid.
