Vilfand advised to get used to sudden alternations of heat and cold
According to the head meteorologist, these changes are linked to global warming.
Moscow. June 21. INTERFAX.RU — Sudden alternations of heat and cold will intensify due to global warming, said the head of the hydrometeorological center of Russia Roman Vilfand.
“Climate scientists have come to the conclusion that in the period of global warming — and global warming is not in doubt — will increase the scope, amplitude, variation, variability, as anything is the word. Will increase the frequency of occurrence of extremely cold and hot seasons, dry and rainy,” — said Vilfand at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to him, due to the fact that the globe is warming unevenly: the rapidly warming Arctic, at the equator the changes are almost imperceptible.
“As a result, the temperature difference between equator and pole decreases, and this difference in temperature between the equator and pole is the basis for the emergence of a circulation in the atmosphere,” — said Vilfand.
