VIENNA, June 19. /TASS/. A clear definition and methodology of the concept of “fake news” need to develop at the site of the OSCE and other international organizations. This opinion was expressed on Monday the representative of the Department of information and press of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maxim Buyakevich, speaking at the OSCE conference “media Freedom under conditions of instability”.

“I guess we all have to work within the framework of the OSCE and other international fora to understand what we’re dealing with, and give a common response to these challenges threatening the reputation of the media,” the diplomat said.

He drew attention to the frequent attempts to operate with the concept of “fake news”, blaming one country or another to use false information. “But none of us have really tried to determine what is fake news, how they differ from false information or desinformation? asked Buyakevich to the conference. – No clear criteria and methodology of this concept”.
