More than three thousand people took part in the annual mermaid Parade in new York

NEW YORK, June 18. /Offset. TASS Natalia Slavina/. More than three thousand people took Saturday part in the annual 35th in a row, the new York mermaid Parade. Despite the pouring rain, the extravagant display of costumes of fairytale and real sea creatures walked along the ocean coast district of Coney island.

Among the participants of the parade, besides the hundreds of colored mermaids, were also purple octopus, giant shark, Triton, the pink Flamingo, big doll of U.S. President Donald trump in the crown of Neptune, dozens of pirates, sea kings and Queens.

Some costumes were a result of long and painstaking labour of their owners and has been colourfully decorated. However, the majority of participants chose the less pretentious costumes, adding to his image only coloured wig and long shiny skirt.

Pride of place in the masquerade tradition took the unofficial “mayor” of Coney island’s 64-year-old dick Zigun, which is a third of a century ago, and organized the first mermaid Parade. According to him, the rain brought only the realism of the mythical procession. “Now we all look like floating in its element”, — he said.

Donald attacked and enslaved by the Goddess of the oceans and rivers (Tethys or Doris?) for his crimes against the environment. Plenty of political themes in the Mermaid Parade especially related to pollution and abuse of the sea life. #mermaid #mermaidparade #mermaidparade2017 #coneyisland #coneyislandboardwalk #coneyislandmermaidparade #trump #trumpmemes #heisnotmypresident #hedoesntspeakforme #trumpisnotmypresident #stoptrump #resist #streetview #streetscene #streetstyle #streetfashion #streetportrait #streetphotography #cityview #cityscape #cityphotography #nyc #jerseycity #traveler #traveling #travelpics #travelphotography #travelgram #instatravel

Mermaid parade in the heart of Coney island, was first held in 1983 and was organized to popularize this rather poor at that time, the neighborhood in Brooklyn. Since then, the procession has become one of the most colorful sights in new York.

That’s me staring into the magic bubble, as it whispered to me the future ?#coneyisland #mermaidparade
