Straight lines, like those annually held by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, must arrange for all candidates to participate in presidential elections in 2018. This view was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the KPRF Central Committee Dmitri Novikov, reports “Interfax” on Friday, June 16.

In his opinion, none of the candidates for the highest office in the country should not shy away from the debate, “everyone should get with the program” during the election campaign. “It is very important that the presidential election became an occasion for large, national discussion”, — said the Deputy.

Novikov added that the Communist party is ready for this kind of discussion.

In addition, he noted that the leaders of the major political parties should have more opportunities to communicate with nationals of the country for the presentation of his program.

The next presidential elections will be held in March 2018. By law, the President-elect will hold this position for six years. Putin has the right to participate in elections, but so far he has not announced a corresponding intention. Such plans are, in particular, the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the founder of the party “Yabloko” Grigory Yavlinsky and Alexei Navalny, as well as in custody in the case of major fraud businessman Sergei Polonsky. The Chairman of the CPRF Gennady Zyuganov also did not rule out his participation as a candidate.
