Lavrov: Russia does not have absolute confirmation of the death of the leader of ISIS*

MOSCOW, June 16 — RIA Novosti. The Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia had no absolute confirmation of the information about the destruction of the leader of the terrorist group “Islamic state” in Ibrahim Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Earlier the defense Ministry reported that al-Baghdadi was killed in the result of the impact of videoconferencing on may 28 at the command post in the southern suburb of Raqqa, where the leaders of ISIS*. The information that al-Baghdadi was at the meeting checked.

“Of course I heard about these messages. Until I have absolute confirmation of this information,” — said Lavrov at a press conference in Moscow.

At the same time he expressed the opinion that to exaggerate the importance possible to eliminate al-Baghdadi is not worth it.

“All the examples of this kind of stock destruction, decapitation of terrorist groups was always served quite with great enthusiasm, fanfare, but still experience shows that these structures have restored their combat capability”, — he added, noting that this applies to IG and “al-Nusra Dzhebhat”*.
