MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. A sentence to the former Director of the Federal service of execution of punishments (FSIN) Russia to Alexander Reimer is a serious punishment, but to determine the degree of guilt of the person and the infliction of punishment should be exclusively the court.

This opinion was expressed by President of Russia Vladimir Putin, answering questions during the “Straight line”.

“As regards home arrest or real terms (for corrupt officials – approx. TASS) – it is a question which should be determined by the court depending on each specific situation and blame the person who committed the offense,” said the President.

“The most recent guilty verdict against the former head of the Federal penitentiary service”, – Putin said. “This is the man who headed the entire system (execution) punishment, i.e. the whole system, which is associated with people serving sentences for crimes committed. He violated the law. As far as I know, the court yesterday ruled – the real term of imprisonment, 8 years old, this is a serious punishment”, – said the head of state.

“Let us rely on the judicial system, which, of course, also needs to be improved. However, another instance of the Constitution defining the punishment or other person committed the offence, does not exist”, – said the President.
