BRUSSELS, June 13. /Offset. TASS Denis Dubrovin/. The European Commission (EC) has begun official procedure of eliminating violations in respect of Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic for refusing to accept migrants at the EU quotas. This is stated in the statement by the EC.

“The European Commission decided to open the procedure of eliminating violations in respect of Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic for failure to comply with decision (Council of the EU — approx. TASS) for the resettlement of refugees,” — said in a statement.

The result of this procedure can be large fines for the offending countries.

As the most severe penalties, which, however, has never been used, these States may be deprived of voting rights in the EU Council.

In the fall of 2015 the EU adopted a decision on resettlement in its territory of 160 million of which was at that time in Greece and Italy refugees from Africa. The quota was distributed in proportion to the population of other EU countries and a number of other factors. Poland pledged then to take 7 thousand, Czech Republic — 1.6 thousand, Hungary — 1.6 thousand, Slovakia — 900.

Currently against implementing the immigration quotas are all the countries of the “Visegrad group” — Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The European Commission since the beginning of the year negotiating with “the departed”, hoping to settle the issue out of court, but the results are not achieved.

Over the last two years Poland and Hungary did not accept any migrants, Czech Republic took 12 people, Slovakia — 16. The main criterion for initiating disciplinary action against the three countries of the “Visegrad group” was their refusal to assume any obligations for the reception of quota refugees in the last 12 months.

Slovakia was able to avoid this situation, as it declared readiness to accept a limited number of migrants. Meanwhile, the total number of refugees exceeds 2.5 million people, currently, the intensity of the migratory flow began to rise again.
