The Director of TV channel “Culture” explained the large-scale reduction of staff

Moscow. On 13 June. INTERFAX.RU — Reduction of 114 employees of the TV channel “Russia-Culture” (VGTRK) from about 700 people working there is due to modernization and technical re-equipment of the channel, said in an interview with the newspaper “Kommersant” Director and chief editor of “Russia-Culture” Sergey Shumakov.

According to him, the move to a new office on Shabolovka, equipped at the expense of facilities RTR the most modern equipment, will allow the channel to “get rid of many duplicating functions” administrative and technical staff.

Shumakov added that laid-off workers “because of their age or professional qualities does not meet the requirements, which today are the employees of the channel”, as “Culture” “was not updated in the last ten years really.”
