Ukrainians began to cross the border with EU countries in the framework of the “bezveze”

According to the border guards, June 11, in the first hours of the new rules the state border with biometric passports and without visas crossed almost 600 Ukrainians.

KIEV, June 11. /TASS/. Ukrainians began to cross the border with the countries of the European Union in the framework entered into force of the agreement on simplification of visa regime. This was reported today by the press service of the State border service of Ukraine.

“In the first hours from the moment of the new rules the state border of Ukraine with biometric passports and without visas crossed almost 600 of our compatriots”, — have informed in a press-service.

The guard recalled that the issue of citizens of Ukraine on border crossing points with the EU help of foreign experts — representatives of the European Agency for border guard and coast guard Frontex. They provide consultative assistance to the border guards, and Ukrainians in order to avoid possible misunderstandings.

In connection with the entry into force of the agreement on simplification of visa regime in the capital’s international Boryspil airport, according to the TV channel “112 Ukraine” on Sunday observed a crowd of people. Airport officials attributed the rise in passenger traffic with the introduction of the so-called buswise. At the same time, the significant queues at road checkpoints on the Western border of Ukraine since the morning was not observed.

Information on any mass problems when crossing borders with the EU Ukrainians without visas is not fixed.

“There were no problems, all the passengers reached the EU countries, where they followed. There was only one refusal — refused entry to the citizen of Ukraine who has exceeded the period of stay in Denmark, therefore, it is prohibited for a specified period entry into the territory of this country”, — said the press-Secretary of the state border service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodyan, the TV channel “112 Ukraine”. In addition, he said that of the total number of Ukrainians who have entered today to the EU without visas, 80% consisted of those who crossed the border through road crossings, 20% have used the services of airlines.

From June 11 Ukrainian citizens with biometric passports can carry out tourist trips to EU member States for up to 90 days, not more often than every six months. The liberalization of the visa regime does not give them the right to work or study in Europe.
