The Russian foreign Ministry called the condition for the transfer of the Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem

MOSCOW, 9 Aug — RIA Novosti. Moscow will not move its Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem before a final agreement on the fate of the city between Israelis and Palestinians, said to RIA Novosti, the Russian foreign Ministry.

The unresolved status of the city and the sensitivity of this issue for relations with the Arab-Muslim world forced the US President Donald trump to act contrary to his campaign promises and a week ago to postpone for at least six months of relocation of the Embassy, which is now in tel Aviv. Yesterday the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and national heritage of Israel Zeev Elkin urged Russia to take advantage of the delay of the US and become the first country in the world, which will move its Embassy to Jerusalem.

In the Department of information and press of the Russian foreign Ministry in response to this proposal recalled that on 6 April 2017, the Russian side made an official statement which reaffirmed the commitment of Moscow “two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

“We noted that the present East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state and West Jerusalem believe the capital of Israel. It was stressed that the specific parameters of the solution of the whole range of final status issues of the Palestinian territories, including the problem of Jerusalem must be agreed upon in direct negotiations between the parties. Have in mind that to reach a final settlement between Palestinians and Israelis, in particular, the fate of Jerusalem, we will not take any actions that could prejudge a solution to this and other key problems of a settlement in favor of one side or another. Such actions we will take and the possible transfer of our Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” — said the Russian foreign Ministry.
