VTSIOM found that Russians have become intolerant to the effects of “lack of patriotism”

However, still more than half of our citizens are denied the right to be called a patriot people who don’t feel love for his native country (think so, 77%) do not know the state symbols of Russia (61%). Manifestations of unpatriotic behavior rank as evasion of military service (more than two thirds) work in the nonprofit firm, are considered “foreign agents” (just over half).
According to the head of practice of political analysis and consulting VTSIOM Mikhail Mamonov, the survey data capture a major trend, namely “the preservation of perception of patriotism as responsibility to the state.” In parallel with this, he added, increases tolerance to what is considered to be a space of personal choice — both in terms of daily life, and in terms of their personal positions on various issues.

Public displays of “patriotism”
At the same time, sociologists note that the explicit expression of unpatriotic behavior began to condemn the stronger. So, this expression condemns 47% of the respondents, while some even offer to introduce criminal punishment. However, almost as many respondents (48%) does not see the subject for censure, and the share of supporters of this position has increased from 37% in 2014 to 52% in the current year.
At the same time, the exclusion of the survey participants do for their idols from the midst of culture, show-business — they are unpatriotic attacks in the majority (60%) of Russians are ready to criticize (and 46% in private and 14% public). The statements are inconsistent with the official position of the state, are milder: just over a third of respondents consider them reprehensible, whereas 52% is called a private matter.
