People’s criteria of patriotism

According to sociologists, Russians have become more tolerant to relate to the different relations with compatriots abroad. So, if in 2014, citizens wishing to move abroad, considered worthy to be called patriots 68% of respondents this year — 52%. Having a second citizenship, according to 61%, is not unpatriotic (three years ago agreed with it slightly less than half). Similarly, in the better to change the attitude of people who marry with foreigners working in foreign companies.

In General, sociologists have come to the conclusion that in the years since the return of Crimea, the rise of Patriotic sentiment in the society are weak — the Russians have become more tolerant to a number of acts, which nominally may indicate a dislike for the country.

However, still more than half of our citizens are denied the right to be called a patriot people who don’t feel love for his native country (think so, 77%) do not know the state symbols of Russia (61%). Manifestations of unpatriotic behavior rank as evasion of military service (more than two thirds) work in the nonprofit firm, are considered “foreign agents” (just over half).

According to the head of practice of political analysis and consulting VTSIOM Mikhail Mamonov, the survey data capture a major trend, namely “the preservation of perception of patriotism as responsibility to the state.” In parallel with this, he added, increases tolerance to what is considered to be a space of personal choice — both in terms of daily life, and in terms of their personal positions on various issues.

If we try to determine the image of a patriot, formed in the mass consciousness, is a person who follows the rules set by the state but if there are no such rules, he is free to choose how to act. This image of “free patriot” — has not yet become common, but it obviously increases.Michael Manoevrability practice of political analysis and consulting polls
