Putin ratified the agreement on the representation of the Arab League in Russia

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin ratified the intergovernmental agreement on the presence of the representative of the League of Arab States (LAS) on the territory of the Russian Federation, the relevant document is published on the official portal of legal information on Wednesday.

The agreement, signed on 2 July 2015 in Moscow, defines the goals and functions of representative offices, the rights and obligations of the parties and contains provisions for granting representative offices and its staff privileges and immunities similar to those provided in the Russian Federation, other international organizations and their employees.

The League of Arab States is a regional intergovernmental organization established in Cairo on 22 March 1945. Currently, the League consists of 21 state, its headquarters is in Cairo. Since January 1990 there is a representative office of the Arab League in Moscow.

The main activity of the representative office of the Arab League in Moscow is to assist in achieving the goals and objectives of the memoranda, as well as the expansion of cooperation between Russia and member States of the Arab League in the economic, cultural, scientific and social fields.
