Poroshenko expressed reluctance to kneel in front of Russia

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the termination of Russian gas supplies to Kiev wanted to put on his knees. He said this in a speech at the Trypillya power plant Thursday, June 8, reports TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

“Gas supplies to Ukraine was part of the hybrid war, the overlap of valve we wanted to put on knees”, — said Poroshenko.

Kiev stopped buying Russian gas in November 2015. The Ukrainian authorities have started to buy fuel in Europe, explaining that lower price. Later, the head of “Naftogaz” Andrey KOBOLEV admitted that Gazprom offered Kiev the fuel at a more attractive price than European suppliers.

In December 2016, the head of analytical Department of national energy security Fund (NESF) Alexander Pasechnik noted that the Ukrainian authorities even after the cessation of purchases from Russia did not solve the problem of financing the supply of fuel. “They declare independence from Russian gas, talking about the reverse and forgetting about the origin of the reverse,” said the analyst.

Government in Kiev has accused Russia of aggressive actions, including involvement in the conflict in the Donbass. The Ukrainian courts refused to admit the fact of armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine. In Moscow deny these charges, citing a lack of evidence.
